"How much does a website cost?" may be one of the most vexed questions in our industry. Speaking honestly, a website will cost as much as you want to pay. £500 will buy you a cheap template site that you'll outgrow in a couple of months and £50k will buy you an all-singing, all-dancing custom build that'll supercharge your growth for the next 5+ years.

There is, generally speaking, a direct relationship between the amount you spend and the quality of the finished product, but things are further complicated by the cost of implementing custom functionality like calculators or client portals, video banners or smart CTAs.

You may as well ask how much a car costs, but that's not a helpful answer for people who find themselves trying to budget for a new web build so in this episode of Digital Marketing From The Coalface, we set out to try and nail down the actual costs involved with building a website, exploring everything from basic hosting packages to the cost of custom design work. Plus some waffle about buying suits.

Best of all though, We roped Red Evo's very own design/development expert Rob Harrison into the chat. Tune in to hear him sharing hard-won wisdom about web development and the dangers of buying wedding attire on eBay.
